Four other awards were presented to leaders of the district conference the club hosted in May 2001 and which is highlighted elsewhere on this Web site.

District Governor Tom Guyette and Carol Guyette each received awards. Both showed great leadership and had significant input into the design and success of the conference.

Congratulations to all.

CLUB HONORED AT DISTRICT CONFERENCE

Beyond the fact of having Tom Friese’s conference committee managing an exceptional district conference honoring District Governor Tom Guyette’s exceptional year, our club was honored as well.

President Paul Kendle accepted two awards for the club. One award was a ‘Top 5’ Award for Membership. Our percentage growth of 6 percent was one of the five best in the district. That award is even more impressive given the size of our club.

And, for the fifth consecutive year the Rotary Club of Green Bay received the RI Presidential Citation for outstanding accomplishment in the areas of Rotary service. The citation is proudly displayed on the home page of this web site.

Congratulations are in order to all members with a reminder that the job of Rotary, the needs that we help fill, remains a work in progress.

CAROL BUSH RECEIVES
ADULT YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD

Carol BushCarol Bush has received the 1998 Youth Leadership Award from the Rotary Club of Green Bay. The presentation, which came as a surprise to Carol, was made at a birthday celebration for Encompass Child Care's Carol B. Bush Center. Club President Tom Milbourn said Carol was selected because of her lifelong dedication to children, families and the community.

In particular, she was honored because of a "little" idea she had, which is now a "BIG" event in the Green Bay community: The Big Event for Little Kids. In the letter of nomination, Suzy Pfeifer, Encompass' Development Director, said ten years ago, Carol Bush came up with the idea of creating an event that would welcome all children and parents to come together for a day filled with healthy education and fun activities. Carol wanted every child and parent to feel welcome.

The Big Event for Little Kids fills the Brown County Expo Centre every spring with between 4,000 and 7,000 children and parents enjoying more than 100 activities. Carol Bush is always one of the 300 volunteers, often there from set-up to clean-up.
