New Member Process

1. Propose a candidate by filling out a New Member Proposal Card.

a. Member may advise candidate of classification contingency.
b. Submit completed card to Membership Chairperson.
2. Membership Chairperson forwards proposal card to Classification Chairperson. a. Classification is assigned.
b. Proposal card is returned to Membership Chairperson.
3. Membership Chairperson presents candidate to Board of Directors for approval (at Monthly meeting if next meeting is within 1 week, otherwise, electronically). a. Candidate is approved for membership - process continues.
b. Candidate is not approved for membership - PROCESS STOPS
4. Membership Chairperson presents name of candidate to general membership a. If approved, process continues.
b. If not approved, PROCESS STOPS
5. Membership Chairperson advises the following, of candidate’s approval for membership: a. President – Send welcome letter to candidate.
b. Treasurer – Add candidate to membership roster, RI records and website
c. Orientation Chairperson – Contact candidate to schedule orientation
d. Proposing Rotarian – To advise of candidate’s approval for membership
e. Badge Chairperson – Prepare candidate’s red badge for presentation at induction
f. Classification Chairperson – To advise of candidate’s approval for membership
6. Orientation to familiarize with Rotary is completed. a. President advised of its completion.
7. President arranges for formal induction into the Club. a. Arranges date
b. Arranges proposer to "pin" the new member
c. Introduces new member, presents plaque, book, directory, etc.
d. Invites new member to give brief address to club on his/her background.
e. Informs District. Governor of new member
8. New member is furnished a red badge.

9. New member continues orientation and completes four tasks:

a. Attend a board of directors meeting
b. Attend a committee meeting
c. Serve as a greeter
d. Give a classification talk
10. New member is presented with a blue badge.
