PROGRAM
Ron Axel, retired dentist from Minnetonka, Minn., and 2004-05 Rotary District 5950 Governor, spoke about, at age 63, his recently acquired passion of mountain climbing. His goal is to reach the highest point in each of the 50 states.
He has already attained that goal in the state with the highest mountain, Alaska and its Mt. McKinley at 20,320 feet above sea level.
He described and showed photos from his month-long ascent up McKinley with a group of eight, plus three guides.
He said he'd climb Mt. Everest - if he could afford it and if his wife would let him.
