Rotary Honors
High School Seniors

Again this year, the Club is honoring a dozen outstanding local high school seniors with the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA).

"These are students who not only excel at academics, but they are also active in their schools and community," said Rotary Club president Robert Hieronimczak.

"All too often we only hear about what's wrong with young people when, in fact, many are outstanding young leaders," RYLA Committee Chair Gigi Saharsky added. "The students we're honoring are reflective of so many other teens that are driven to succeed and, at the same time, give back to their community."

The 2008 Rotary Youth Leadership Award Recipients are:

NEW Lutheran High School

  • Derrick Bordeleau
  • Stacey Barnum

Green Bay East High School

  • Brittany Puta
  • Bret Blozinski

Notre Dame Academy

  • Joseph Mead

Green Bay Preble High School

The students selected by each high school participate in a Rotary Club meeting where they share their background and experience with Club members. At an April 28 luncheon, the students will present their views on a variety of topics, with parents, school administrators and Rotarians as their audience. Each Youth Leadership Award recipient will receive a $250 scholarship from the Rotary Foundation of Green Bay, Inc.
